Bistek Cheesesteak Burger
Back to School Lunch Ideas Day 4
Okay Mama! We’re experimenting.
Don’t be scared, it looks complicated to make but trust me, not only that it’s easy to make, it’s also scrumptious. Your little ones and big kids will love this!
My family love burgers and they also love Filipino food. So, I thought why not put them together. It’s the partnership that we didn’t ask for but a party in the mouth! Haha!
Swap it & Common Questions
Do I have to bake it in the oven? – No you don’t have to. You can cook the butter and parsley in the microwave for 1-2 minutes. Then brush it over the buns.
Wrapper – I use baking sheets or you can use parchment paper too.
Burger sauce- I made a very simple sauce as I didn’t want to spend too much time making this. And if your child doesn’t like mustard you can take it out.
I hope you enjoy this recipe! Let me know if you have recipe suggestions in the comment.

Instructions
In a medium size bowl, add the thinly sliced steaks, half of the minced garlic, black pepper, soy sauce and vinegar. Mix them well and let marinate on the side.
In a pot heat some oil, add onions, cook for a minute then add the rest of the minced garlic. Saute for another minute. Add the marinated beef into the pot.
Simmer on medium until the sauce has reduced, make sure it doesn’t dry out and mix it occasionally. Once it’s reduced, turn the heat off, add the slices of cheese on top and cover it. Leave it for 5 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180 fan oven (optional). This part is optional. If you don’t want to put it in the oven, cook the butter and parsley in the microwave for 1 minute and brush it on top of the buns.
Place the buns in an oven tray or plate, on the bottom buns spread the burger sauce, scoop some of the bistek cheese and place it on top of the bottom burger. Then, add lettuce, tomatoes, onions and the top buns. Brush the top with parsley and butter mixture.
Bake the burgers for 5 minutes and take them out of the oven. Eat them straight away or if you are packing these for lunch. Leave them on the side to cool down before packing them into lunch boxes.
