Chippy Chicken Tenders- FoodwithMae 1

Chippy Chicken Tenders

Crispy Fried Chicken covered with Filipino crisps.

Chippy is a favourite Filipino crisp (chips) in the Philippines. Growing up as a child in the Philippines this would be one of the snacks I would buy from our local store. I was inspired by Tiktokers and Mukbang using the American potato chips. I thought to can I make this Filipino and Chippy came to mind. It was a great combo!

Chippy Chicken Tenders- FoodwithMae 1

300g chicken strips
80ml buttermilk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
a pinch of black pepper
220g Chippy (110g X2 packets)
Oil for frying

In a bowl, combine chicken, buttermilk, salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Mix them all together well. Cover it and leave it marinate for at least 2 hours.

In the meantime, pour chippy crisps into a food processor. Blitz them until they are smaller crumbs.

Once the chicken is marinated, cover them in chippy crumbs and place them into an oven tray. Cook them at 180 fan oven for 15 minutes OR you can fry them until each side is golden brown.

Serve them with some homemade banana ketchup or your choice of sauce.
