Salmon Roll
Back to School Lunch Ideas Day 5
My teens love Sushi! To be honest I do too but it can be so expensive to buy it all the time.
Making something similar to what you can get from the shop will save you so much money. Especially in today’s situation, all the penny counts.
This recipe is something that I love and my family requests from me to make again and again.
Swap it & Common Questions
Salmon – I’m using ready steamed salmon from the shop, doing this saves me a lot of time when I’m meal prepping for the week. You can also use tinned/jar salmon or tuna.
Mayonnaise – I’m using mayo as I already have this in my fridge, if you have kewpie mayo that’s even better.
Pickle – I have some pickled radish in my fridge already but you can use any pickle available to you or change it completely to some sliced carrots.
Nori – In the video you see me using large sheets and small sheets. It’s really up to you which one is better for your family. You can change them each week to make it more interesting. Sometimes it’s hard to find large nori sheets so maybe use the mini ones if you can’t find large nori sheets.
Can I use other fillings rather than fish? Yes definitely! You can add fried spam or sausages, even left over Adobo. Make it fun and keep it rolling!
Ingredients
Instructions
In a bowl, add all the ingredients and mix them well. Taste if and adjust to your taste. Put this aside for later.
To roll your salmon, take a nori sheet and lay it flat on a surface. Add some cooked rice on top of the nori sheet, making sure it’s flat, add 1 sliced cucumber, 1 sliced radish and some salmon mixture . Roll the nori sheet from the top to the bottom. Do this until you use up all the salmon mixture.
Onced rolled, brush the top of the salmon rolls with sesame oil and sprinkle them with some sesame seeds.
You can keep the rolls as they are and place them in your child lunch box or you can slice them into smaller pieces. It’s lovely with some soy sauce on the side.
